How to control Amazon Music with an Elgato Stream Deck

The Windows plugins do not connect to a private Amazon Music API. They use the media session that the active player publishes to Windows. That keeps the setup simple, but it also means Stream Deck can only display metadata and send commands the player makes available.

Use Playback - Windows for one visible action per key, or Now Playing - Windows for deeper control from one Stream Deck+ dial.

Amazon Music can be used through a Windows app or the music.amazon.com browser player. Test the route you actually keep open. The desktop app can appear as its own source, while the web player shares the browser session with other tabs.

Skip limits, advertisements, and on-demand availability are service or account rules rather than Stream Deck settings. The plugin sends the commands Amazon Music exposes; it cannot add a next, previous, or seek action that the current listening context does not permit.

Do this short test before buying or styling a complete profile. It separates a player-session problem from a Stream Deck layout problem.

1. Open either the Amazon Music app or music.amazon.com and keep that choice consistent.
2. Start an album or playlist item that permits normal transport controls.
3. Confirm Windows receives the song title and playback state.
4. Test next, previous, and seek individually because account and content rules can affect them.
5. For the web player, pause Prime Video, YouTube, and other browser media while testing.

Choose by control surface rather than price. Playback is the fit when you want literal, glanceable keys. Now Playing is the fit when you own Stream Deck+ and want more of the player available from one physical control.

   Use the Amazon Music route you plan to keep open every day and avoid switching players during setup.

2. Start eligible on-demand playback

   Play an album or playlist item that exposes normal transport controls so the first test is not limited by content or account rules.

3. Choose keys or a dial

   Choose Playback - Windows for visible key actions or Now Playing - Windows for a deeper Stream Deck+ dial.

4. Install the Windows plugin

   Purchase the chosen edition through Elgato Marketplace and install it in the Stream Deck app.

5. Add the daily Amazon Music actions

   Start with live now playing, play or pause, previous, next, and volume, then add deeper dial views if supported.

6. Test your real account and content

   Confirm the controls using the stations, playlists, albums, or podcasts you actually use because command availability can differ.

• Use an album or playlist with normal on-demand controls for the initial profile test.
• If the Amazon Music web player is your default, treat every other media tab as a possible competing source.
• Do not diagnose account-level skip or playback restrictions as Stream Deck failures; confirm the same button is available inside Amazon Music.
• Name the profile Amazon Music desktop or Amazon Music web so the expected source remains obvious later.

The reliable profile is the one tested against your real listening context, not the one with the most actions. Remove any control the current player never exposes consistently.
